Oceanfront Luxury Condominiums
If you really want to lodge in the most opulent, yet tasteful, accommodation on Kauai’s south shore of Poipu, there is nothing like Whaler’s Cove and its luxurious villas (a better term for these particular condo units).
Sitting alone on a promontory jutting into the Pacific along Poipu’s rocky coastline, with waves pounding just a stone's throw from your windows and lanai, Whaler’s Cove will literally take your breath away. Each of the 39-oceanfront units of 1,400-2,000 sq. ft. is a gem featuring private lanais with sweeping ocean views, fully- equipped gourmet kitchens, washer/dryer and daily housekeeping services. Some of the suites even have Jacuzzi bathtubs overlooking the ocean, especially on the third floor. And the furnishings and appointments are extremely refined and elegant.
The grounds, in particular on the oceanfront side, are quite remarkable, blending the rocky, curving coastline with landscaped terracing. The pool and jet-spa terrace offer a spellbinding ambiance and veritable feast for the eyes and senses. The adjoining cove is one of the most pristine on Kauai and was a favored harbor for whaling vessels in the 19th Century.
For my money, while Whaler’s Cove comes with a high-ticket, it is a far better choice than Poipu’s hotels, where OV and OF accommodations are limited to one room of 550 sq. ft. or so. And if you are four to six persons sharing a two-bedroom suite rather than two or three hotel rooms, there is just no comparison whatsoever. One-bedrooms are limited to two persons.
I highly recommend Whaler’s Cove! Of all Hawaii’s luxury condos and hotels, there are none that are more exhilarating in terms of location and quality. The staff is wonderful as well.
