The Poipu Beach resort area on Kauai’s south shore has a brand new and welcome entry, especially if you’re in the market for a new vacation experience. The Waiohai Beach Club by Marriott opened in early 2004 and offers a series of buildings spread inland from its beachfront setting amidst tropical vegetation, pools and lagoons.
This stunning new property, featuring villa-like suites as part of the Vacation Club product line, is a welcome addition to ALLHawaii.com’s exclusive lodging roster. The well-thought-out, over 1,000 sq, ft., two-bedroom Waiohai Beach Club Suites are sensationally furnished and have premium appointments throughout, with complete kitchen, two full baths and three TVs in every unit. Our accommodations are strictly "run-of-house," with either an interesting “Island” view or some kind of “Ocean” view, according to availability upon check-in.
Marriott's wonderful new Vacation Club resort is located on a stretch of beautiful white sand beach in walking distance of Poipu Beach Park, Poipu Shopping Village and several restaurants. In addition to the on-property beach with ocean activity booth, there are two pools, poolside bar, several jet-spas, fitness center, children’s activity center and The Kiawe Grill for breakfast and dinner. There is also the “Marketplace,” with its selection of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, breads, wines, spirits, cold drinks, cigars and more. Freshly prepared salads and sandwiches are available at Provisions Deli. Convenience items and sundries can also be purchased.
If you have a family or two couples looking for some extra space, the Waiohai Suites by Marriott will be right up your alley at an affordable price. You’ll get a terrific two-bedroom premium suite, resort amenities and a heavenly beach on which to unwind and enjoy.

Built around a former plantation manor house and recalling gracious 19th-century Hawaii, Castle Kiahuna Plantation & The Beach Bungalows’ premium accommodations occupy 35 lush acres between a picture postcard beach and a stylish, open-air shopping mall on Kauai’s south shore.
Forty-two wood buildings, no higher than a coconut tree, provide spacious, naturally- cooled, one- and two-bedroom units with spacious lanais (patios/balconies), full kitchens, and modern conveniences such as VCRs and data ports. Access to upper floors is by outside stairs, not elevators.
Kiahuna Plantation is extremely popular with repeat visitors. And for good reason! Each unique unit is quite nice and most have first-rate appointments. Lots of categories and units make for a varied selection. The vast majority of the two-bedrooms are duplex with the bedrooms and baths on the entry floor and the living room, dining area and kitchen upstairs. One-bedrooms are more modest in size, but cleverly laid-out and far better than the nearby hotels, if space is your main criteria.
Botanically significant and tranquil, the resort features a renowned cactus garden, Hawaiian garden, enormous orchids and water lily ponds. For activities, there is lagoon access, tennis courts and barbecue areas. The resort lacks a swimming pool. The beach, however, is a real attraction at Kiahuna Plantation, with good swimming and snorkeling. The on-site, historic Plantation Gardens Restaurant (Piatti's), in the original manor house, is very popular with guests and rounds out the resort experience.

Castle Poipu Shores
Oceanfront condominium
Situated on a bluff at the southern tip of Kauai and directly above the surf crashing into the rocky shoreline, the 39-unit Poipu Shores condominium complex is a bit of a ”diamond-in-the-rough” within the Poipu Resort destination.
Housed in three white-stucco, two- and four-story buildings, Poipu Shores offers one- and two-bedroom units with fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryer and oceanfront vistas from spacious patios or lanais. Panoramic views of the Pacific, sunsets and humpback whales during their winter migration are on display. Decor varies, but all units are island-style. Ceiling fans and ocean breezes cool the rooms instead of air-conditioning. Cable TV, VCR and stereos provide entertainment.
A mile west, is famed Poipu Beach. The S-shaped beach's lower loop is protected by a man-made reef, which creates a calm swimming environment. The upper loop offers surfing and boogie boarding. In between, there's great snorkeling among lava rocks around a small sand islet.
As with many condominium facilities, amenities are limited to the pool and barbeque area. But what a spot to take a dip! Seemingly suspended over the ocean, Poipu Shore’s pool sits atop a lava-rock platform constructed on the shore. Spray from crashing waves often shoots above, and even over, the railing around the pool.
