Aston Kaanapali Shores
West Maui Beachfront Condominium Resort
For all intents and purposes, this is Hawaii's premier condo resort for a number of reasons. One, is its sheer size, with some 415 units. Another, is expert management by Aston and stellar General Manager Mark Marantz and his talented staff. Yet another reason is Kaanapali Shores’ status as a virtually self-contained resort on par with resort hotels when it comes to amenities and activities.
Not only does Kaanapali Shores feature its own restaurant (Beach Club Bar & Restaurant), which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but for active guests there are three lighted tennis courts, a fitness/massage center, two swimming pools, two jet spas, complimentary scuba lessons, and a beautiful beach. Located within or off the magnificently renovated lobby are a salon, tropical flower shop, sundries and beach apparel stores, as well as the terrific indoor/outdoor facilities of Camp Kaanapali for keiki ages 5-12. And the shopping area just across from the entrance to the property features an excellent supermarket.
While offering some studios, the vast majority of the centrally-air-conditioned high-rise accommodations are very large, well-appointed one- and two-bedroom units, many with unrivaled spectacular views of Molokai and Lanai across the vast inter-island channels of the Pacific Ocean that separate the various islands. All the one- and two-bedroom units have very large galley kitchens and washer/dryers. Appointments are quite nice with tropical furnishings predominant.
During the past three years and concluding in 2004, all the common areas and suites have or will be renovated and the results appear to be very impressive.

Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas

If you like a gorgeous, almost private beach (no beach in Hawaii is truly private), Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas should be on your Hawaii radar screen.
The Villas’ outstanding 11-acre location on Kaanapali Beach transcends the beach. There is some history associated with this property. In 1966, it was the site of one of the first beachfront resort hotels at Kaanapali (Maui Hilton). It sits at what used to be the extreme north end of the Kaanapali Beach Resort on what always appeared to be its own private lane. Still very quiet, but no longer alone, it remains at the circle at the end of Kai Ala Drive. Kaanapali Villas’ centrally located “Y”-shaped, six-story tower building was the original hotel. It is now host to about half the inventory of units. The other half, mostly studios and one-bedrooms, are spread throughout the property in two-story, non-elevator buildings.
Many knowledgeable beachgoers will tell you the particular stretch of beach in front of Kaanapali Villas, and a quarter of a mile in each direction, is THE best stretch of Kaanapali Beach. Accordingly, Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas offers a water sports activity desk right on the beach, as well as a full-service restaurant and an oceanfront pool. Two other pools adorn the property. A sundry shop is part of the main hotel lobby.
Kaanapali Villas’ very spacious studios and huge one-bedroom suites are air-conditioned and feature a complete kitchen and a private lanai. Otherwise, they are all radically different in furnishings and appointments, no matter what the view category happens to be. Another plus to staying at Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas is the cordial and attentive staff directed by Hamilton Toledo, a general manager who understands how to enhance every guest’s vacation experience.

Aston Maui Hill
South Maui Condominium
Nice place; terrific location; plenty of space—that’s Aston Maui Hill in a nutshell. But you’re probably looking for more, so let me tell you a few other things to put it all in perspective.
Aston Maui Hill sits on a charming hillside at the quiet, far end of Kihei, just a few hundred yards from Wailea. The hillside location offers more than just interesting topography and quietude, it offers refreshing ocean breezes and splendid ocean views from most units. And these one-, two- and three-bedroom suites are indeed large.
Longtime General Manager, Dennis Costa, keeps these villa-like condos in tip-top shape to the delight of all comers, which include a slew of repeat customers. Each unit provides fully equipped kitchens, often with gourmet appointments, wet bar, washer/dryer and large lanai. Many units are on two floors. Maui Hill’s outdoor amenities include a swimming pool, jet-spa, putting green, shuffleboard and tennis court, as well as a barbeque area.
I really like the location because you’re right on the border of Wailea without paying Wailea prices. At the same time, you can choose to shop or eat at the new Shops at Wailea to your left, or at a plethora of places in Kihei to your right. And great beaches for swimming and sunning are in abundance in both directions.
Whether you’re looking for a moderate, deluxe or premium accommodation, Aston Maui Hill transcends classifications and really delivers value and quality at a delightful location. Fifth night is ALLways free.
