Aston at the Maui Banyan
South Maui Condominium
The hands-down winner for a south Maui condo value has to be Aston at the Maui Banyan. This place is just terrific.
Managed with the usual Aston aplomb, this apartment-like condominium experience plays itself out in the "Kihei alley” (the three-mile stretch of shopping, dining, lodging and beach parks that run the length of most of Kihei). The five-floor, sprawling complex of 256 units sits perpendicular to the ocean, across from Kamaole Beach Park II, and is imposing in size. Each incredibly well thought-out one- and two-bedroom suite is compact, but spacious enough to deliver much more than a hotel accommodation.
The open-floor plan units are nicely appointed, recently renovated and feature fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryer and daily housekeeping. Don’t stay here if you are looking for dead-on ocean views, but most of the POV units have a relatively good ocean view from the top two floors. The imposing parking structure is across from the Standard (STD) units, so don’t expect any type view if you chose the least expensive accommodation. However, the units are virtually identical.
Aston at the Maui Banyan has two pools, jet-spa and tennis courts, but the beach park directly across the street gets the most attention. Outstanding value during Jan., Apr. through mid-Jun. and mid-Aug through late Dec. Fifth night is ALLways free.

Castle Kamaole Sands
South Maui Condominium
Castle Kamaole Sands is one of the most popular condominium resorts on Maui and, with 315 units, is the largest condo enclave on the “Valley Isle’s” south side.
Located within "Kihei alley” (the three-mile stretch of shopping, dining, lodging and beach parks that run the length of most of Kihei), Kamaole Sands is directly across from Kamaole Beach Park III.
Accommodations are spacious and quite comfortable, offering one- and two-bedroom units with fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, private lanai and daily housekeeping. Each unit is long and narrow. Second bedrooms are often the loft variety, so families will be quite comfortable. Although floor plans are the same throughout the many buildings, no two units are decorated the same and the décor can vary widely.
Four complimentary tennis courts, large swimming pool, sun deck, two jet-spas, and eight barbecue areas are spread around the 15 acres of tropical gardens, complete with ponds, fountains and waterfalls.
Castle Kamaole Sands is a very fine value throughout the year and you can’t go wrong if you need or like extra space. Fifth night is usually free in the one- and two-bedroom in the units.

Aston at Papakea Resort
West Maui Oceanfront Condo Resort
The Aston at Papakea Resort is a sprawling enclave of buildings housing 364 condominium units on 13 oceanfront acres of exotic tropical landscaping, expansive lawns, tranquil koi fish ponds and framed by coconut palms and tropical sunsets.
Papakea’s studios, one- and two-bedroom suites have widely varying décor, but certainly reflect an island ambiance. Many offer spectacular ocean views for winter whale watching. Each air-conditioned unit provides complete kitchens with all conveniences, washer/dryer and a furnished private lanai.
Active guests can choose from two pools and jet-spas, three lighted tennis courts, two 18-hole putting greens, saunas, and whirlpools.
Through most of the year, Aston Papakea is a very good value in the moderate to deluxe range, especially for a west Maui oceanfront property. The GV and OV units do not have much price spread between them, so go for the view that best suits you. If you want OF, you will find Aston Mahana at Kaanapali to be a much better choice.
