Introductory | Moderate | Deluxe | Premium | Luxury New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel At the far (quiet) end of Waikiki, beyond the hustle and bustle and across from the significant green space known as Kapiolani Park, is the adorable New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel (with only 124 rooms, just slightly larger than a boutique hotel). To be sure, the Kaimana is the one of the best-kept secrets on Oahu. It quite literally sits right over a thoroughly delightful stretch of sand known as San Souci Beach. Like several other properties, the Kaimana, as part of the New Otani chain, has been a favorite of Japanese visitors for many years. With a host of categories and unique rooms, trying to decide which to offer was the real challenge. My solution—remove the leader categories and feature three exceptional “Run-of-House” categories—Run-of-Junior Suite, Run-of-Oceanfront and Run-of-Park View One-Bedroom—ALL for the same price. These represent the best accommodations in the hotel with the exception of about a half dozen of the largest suites. The views are sensational and private lanais enhance virtually every unit. The Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant, with its romantic beachside ambiance, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Miyako, specializing in traditional Japanese cuisine, is open for dinner. In addition to its well-positioned Sunset Lanai Bar overlooking the beach, the Kaimana has a nifty and convenient series of shops underneath the Diamond Head Wing featuring a snack shop, sundry store, gift shop, salon and laundry.
